And, even if you do try it, you might find it difficult to remove the stain completely. You may use all sorts of stain cleaners or other detergents and still not make your shirt as white as before.
Plus, you’ll spend quite a bit of money on expensive stain removal products that are not always effective. What’s more, they are full of harsh chemicals which can damage your clothing and skin as well.
So, you end up with a chemical-laden shirt that’s not even white.
To make it worse, the stain might even still be here. And, when you think there’s nothing more you can do to remove that stubborn stain from your clothing, think about the tricks you are about to read.
All you need to have is several common household ingredients. In fact, you probably have them already in your home. They are a great way to get rid of food and wine stains from white clothing quickly and easily.
What’s more, they won’t expose your clothing to harsh chemicals like commercial stain cleaners do.
Here are three simple ways to get rid of nasty stains from white clothes without buying expensive, chemical-laden detergents. These tricks will make your white clothes as good as new.
Method #1 – Baking Soda
Take a large plastic basin and pour four liters of water. Dissolve a cup of baking soda and stir well. Then, put the clothes in the water/baking soda solution and allow them to soak for several minutes (1).
You’ll soon notice the stain starts to disappear.
Method #2 – Aspirin
That’s right. You can use the common pill called aspirin to restore the white color of your stained clothes. All you need is six pills and a plastic basin full of water. Crush the pills and add them to the water.
Make sure they are dissolved before putting the clothes. Let them soak for half an hour before washing them with your regular detergent. You’ll have your perfectly white clothes once again.
Method #3 – Vinegar and Lemon
Last but not least, use a mixture of lemon juice and vinegar to bring back the original color of your white clothes, and make them stain-free. (2)
Just mix the ingredients in 1:1 ratio and stir well. Now, wash your stained clothes in the solution, and the stain will disappear. What’s more, they will smell fresh and will look whiter than ever.
Note – for best results, act as quickly as you can when noticing you have a food stain on your white clothes. Time is important, so have that in mind the next time you have red wine spattered all over your white shirt.
