A Judge Who Loves Animals Gives Unique Sentences To Animal Abusers

Meet Michael Cicconetti who is a judge but not an ordinary one. His sentences are really creative in order to teach lawbreakers a lesson. This judge makes people think twice about breaking the law.

He makes animal abusers spend a night alone in the wilderness and a day at a dump. According to iHeartDogs, the first dog Michael had made him an animal lover.

His family dog was the best pet a child could ever wish for. Today, the judge is a proud dad to a ten-year-old Bernese Mountain dog called Kasey. He got the dog as a way to remember his friend who passed away.

Since the judge is an animal lover, he tends to give animal abusers a taste of their own medicine. However, he stays does not give unusual and cruel punishments that may put someone in danger, and he takes into account the mental stability of each abuser.

For example, one woman subjected her pet to living in filth, and she was sentenced to spend one day at the dump. So, the judge said:

I want you to go down to the county dump, to the landfill, and I want them to find the stinkiest, smelliest, God-awful odor place they can find in that dump and I want you to sit there for eight hours tomorrow, to think about what you did to that dog while you smell the odor. If you puke, you puke.

Another one abandoned thirty-five kittens in the woods, and she was sentenced to spend one night alone in a snowy wilderness, a jail time as well as a fine. The judge said:

How would you like to be dumped off at a metro park late at night, spend the night listening to the coyotes … listening to the raccoons around you in the dark night, and sit out there in the cold not knowing where you’re going to get your next meal, not knowing when you are going to be rescued?

The Goddard’s Law went into effect in Ohio, and it makes abuse of animals a felony, and Judge Mike supports it. He believes that the laws are becoming better.

If drunk drivers and child abusers have to take obligatory courses as a sentence, then, why not those who abuse animals. Some animal abuse is because of evil, and some are jut out of ignorance.

The judge hopes that people who abuse animals will be mentally evaluated. There could be even a register, just like there is for molesters. So, in this way, people who keep pets can be cautious if there is an abuser living near them.

Judge Mike said that he started giving these sentences because he has seen the same offenders in earlier on during his career. He thought that if jail and fines do not teach them a lesson, then, a different approach is necessary.

He says that he comes up with the sentences spontaneously. Also, he reported that his sentences raise the awareness about crimes and consequences. Let’s hope that criminals with think twice before committing a crime.
